Learning Together, Succeeding Together

The Red Rose Alliance Secondary ITT programme recently brought trainees together for a high-impact, confidence-boosting session led jointly by the ITT Lead and our University Partner Lead – and it was all about setting trainees up for success.

The session demystified two key milestones in the ITT journey: writing a strong formative patch assignment and preparing effectively for the summative presentation. Step by step, trainees were guided through expectations, structure and assessment criteria, with clear examples and practical tips that made the process feel manageable and achievable.

What really stood out was the level of support on offer. Trainees were reassured that they are never working in isolation – expert guidance is available at every stage, questions are welcomed, and feedback is there to help them grow. The collaborative nature of the session encouraged open discussion, shared problem-solving and peer support, reinforcing the sense that everyone is part of the same team.

Group collaboration was at the heart of the experience. Trainees worked together to explore ideas, clarify understanding and build confidence, benefiting from different perspectives and collective expertise. The room was full of energy, reassurance and a shared commitment to doing well.

This session perfectly captured what the Red Rose Alliance Secondary ITT programme is about: high-quality guidance, strong partnerships and a supportive learning community that helps every trainee thrive.
