Putting Wellbeing First: Supporting Our Second Placement ITT Trainees
Second placement ITT trainees recently came together with the Red Rose School-Based ITT Programme for an engaging and uplifting training session focused on one vital theme: wellbeing.
As trainees progress through their second placement, expectations increase and the pace of school life can feel more intense. This session provided a valuable opportunity to pause, reflect, and focus on strategies that support positive mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. Through open discussion and shared experiences, trainees explored practical ways to manage workload, respond to pressure, and build sustainable routines that support both professional growth and personal balance.
The collaborative nature of the session was a real highlight and the message was clear throughout: wellbeing is not an add-on, but a core part of becoming an effective, resilient teacher.
The session reinforced the importance of progress over perfection and reminded trainees that seeking support is a sign of professionalism. Feedback from participants highlighted how reassuring it was to know others are experiencing similar challenges, and how empowering it felt to leave with practical tools they can apply immediately in school.
This joint wellbeing session with Red Rose exemplified our shared commitment to developing confident, reflective teachers who are equipped not only to succeed in the classroom, but to thrive throughout their training and beyond.
